This three day hands-on approach to drumming provides a unique opportunity for students of all ages to come together and communicate through rhythm. Students of all instruments, including voice, are encouraged to participate. All instruments are provided on site. Roscegti are run down the Five Steps and demonstrated in a variety of styles Funk, Hip-Hop, Rock, Jazz and World Beat grooves on drum set and hand drums followed by interactive attendee participation from their seats.
Real time drumset loops, midi sequenced and sampled drum loops, drumset with percussion loops, the drumset as an overdub instrument, and a combination of all four examples in one loop. This open interaction offers an excellent opportunity for all music lovers — students, professionals, educators, and appreciators of all ages — to come together and explore communication through the language of the drum in a supportive and inspiring environment.
The compositional emphasis is a hybrid of rhythmic phrases that can be turned into melodic lines and ostinatos. Subdivided rhythms, grooves, fill ideas, ensemble figures and solo ideas are introduced and applied to the drumset. First is The Rhythmic Guide, a breakdown of rhythms that can be applied to any given subdivision in any meter.
Curriculum is provided to each attendee. This shared experience facilitates enhanced communication, listening skills and relieves stress with the timeless healing power of rhythm.

Ed Roscetti and Maria Martinez perform using drumset and a selection of traditional hand drums, covering a variety of traditional and hybrid styles. Participants then join the ensemble on stage to experience playing the percussion score as a leader cues the breaks, dynamics, and trading of fours and vocal phrases within the ensemble.
Family and friends are invited to enjoy this day of fun and music, as roscerti showcase their newly-developed rhythmic skills. Ed and Maria perform using drumset along with a edd of hand drums and percussion instruments, moving from one instrument to another in the ensemble.
Audience members then repeat these rhythms in a call-and-answer pattern, alternating with Ed and Maria. Development of technique, time, time feel, phrasing and song form in odd and common time signatures utilizing the Rosceetti Guide and Five Steps to Musicality concepts.
